Mark Lawrence

About The Author

Mark Lawrence
Between work and caring for his disabled child, Mark spends his time writing, playing computer games, tending an allotment, brewing beer, and avoiding DIY.

The Prince of Thorns is his first published novel. It is the beginning of a projected trilogy following the fortunes of Honorous Jorg Ancrath.

In 2011, when Mark Lawrence released his début novel Prince of Thorns it happened… The fantasy blogging community went crazy! Who is this gentleman with beautiful, disturbing, poetic prose? Turns out Mark Lawrence was an author of the highest calibre and the world took notice. His novel has subsequently been voted for this year’s David Gemmell Awards in the ‘Morningstar’ bracket (Best Debut Novel 2011).

Writing Advice

"It's possible to have a paragraph of exposition that includes wit, observation, humor, danger, or any other powerful tool you care to pull from the story telling toolbox. Make it interesting just not in what it conveys, but how it is conveyed."
